The Spiritual Gift of Knowledge
Knowledge Intelligence
Knowledge Intelligence, sometimes called the spiritual gift of Knowledge or the gift of Knowledge, is one of the Nine Primary Intelligences within the 9 Human Types system. Knowledge is the ability to gather, compare, understand, and evaluate information, meaning, and value. As the Primary Intelligence of Human Type 2, Knowledge guides curiosity, consideration, informed choice, and the pursuit of understanding.
What is Knowledge?
Knowledge Intelligence is the ability to seek understanding through observation, learning, comparison, testing, and inquiry.
Knowledge helps us explore the world and discover meaning within it. It seeks answers, asks questions, gathers information, and examines relationships between ideas. While Wisdom helps us determine what should be done, Knowledge helps us understand what is valuable, relevant, and significant.
Throughout history, Knowledge has been regarded as one of humanity's great spiritual gifts. Scientists, teachers, researchers, historians, philosophers, and explorers all depend upon the ability to investigate reality and uncover deeper understanding. Knowledge is a natural educator, expanding awareness and allowing humanity to navigate life with greater insight.
Within the 9 Human Types system, Knowledge is one of the Nine Primary Intelligences. It is the Intelligence that explores meaning, value, motivation, and consequence. Knowledge helps us understand not only what something is, but why it matters.
Knowledge asks questions before reaching conclusions. It seeks understanding before judgment.
Knowledge as a Primary Intelligence
In the 9 Human Types system, each Human Type expresses one of nine Primary Intelligences through which its Power operates.
Knowledge is the Primary Intelligence of Human Type 2.
For Human Type 2, Knowledge directs the Power To Choose. It allows choices to be made through understanding rather than impulse. Through Knowledge, Type 2 learns to evaluate options, compare possibilities, weigh consequences, and identify what carries genuine value.
Yet Knowledge is not limited to Human Type 2. Every person possesses the capacity to cultivate Knowledge regardless of their Human Type.
Whenever a person asks thoughtful questions, seeks understanding, investigates possibilities, or pursues truth through learning and experience, they are expressing Knowledge Intelligence.
The Gifts of Knowledge
Knowledge reveals itself through several natural capacities.
Curiosity
Knowledge begins with curiosity and excitement.
Curiosity opens the door to learning by asking questions and exploring possibilities. It generates the desire to discover what is unknown and understand what has not yet been revealed.
Inquiry
Knowledge investigates.
It examines assumptions, gathers information, and seeks evidence before forming conclusions. Inquiry allows understanding to develop through exploration rather than guesswork.
Discernment of Value
Knowledge naturally evaluates significance.
It helps us recognize what is meaningful, beneficial, useful, or worthy of attention. Through comparison and evaluation, Knowledge clarifies what deserves our energy and investment.
Comparison
Knowledge recognizes differences and similarities.
It compares ideas, perspectives, choices, and outcomes in order to better understand their strengths, weaknesses, and implications.
Understanding
Ultimately, Knowledge seeks understanding.
Information alone is not enough. Knowledge strives to comprehend meaning, motivation, purpose, consequence, and significance.
Knowledge and Human Type 2
Human Type 2 embodies Knowledge more naturally than any other Type.
Guided by the Purpose of Humility and the Power To Choose, Type 2 uses Knowledge to evaluate possibilities and determine what carries genuine value. They often possess a natural desire to understand people, motivations, opportunities, consequences, and meaningful distinctions.
Because Knowledge seeks understanding, Type 2 frequently asks questions, gathers information, and explores alternatives before making important decisions. They naturally compare and contrast possibilities, seeking clarity before committing their energy.
At their best, they demonstrate that informed choices create more meaningful outcomes. They remind humanity that understanding often precedes wisdom and that thoughtful consideration strengthens action.
Knowledge in Alignment
When Knowledge is expressed in a healthy and balanced way, it produces:
-
Curiosity
-
Discernment
-
Humility
-
Open-mindedness
-
Thoughtful evaluation
-
Informed decision-making
-
Intellectual honesty
Aligned Knowledge remains curious even when it already knows much.
It understands that learning is never complete and that every person, experience, and perspective may contain something valuable to discover.
A person operating from Knowledge approaches life with openness, thoughtful inquiry, and genuine interest in understanding.
Knowledge out of Alignment
Every Intelligence carries a potential distortion.
When Knowledge forgets to be Humble, it can become Pride.
Out of alignment, Knowledge may appear as:
-
Intellectual arrogance
-
Condescension
-
Skepticism without openness
-
Analysis paralysis
-
Indecision
-
Overthinking
Instead of seeking understanding, distorted Knowledge seeks superiority.
Rather than remaining curious, it becomes attached to conclusions and resistant to new information.
True Knowledge remains teachable. It recognizes that understanding grows through openness, not certainty.
